In our last several blog posts, we’ve touted the value of working with a staffing agency, and we’ve touted it from both sides of the coin—the job seeker side and the employer side.
In terms of employers, we’ve addressed the benefits of filling temp-to-hire positions, as well as the fact that you can fill direct hire positions through a staffing agency. However, perhaps you’ve never used a staffing agency before, but now you have a need for one. What should you do? Well, you have to choose one with which to work. That could involve a lot of research and analysis, including weighing the pros and cons of each firm against your hiring needs. At Time Staffing, we’re here to help! That’s because we have some employer tips for choosing (and working) with a staffing agency. You should choose an agency that: #1—Is an experienced and established firm. You certainly don’t want to work with a “fly by night” agency, one that’s just opened its doors and has next to no credibility. You want one that’s been in the business for a while and has a history of servicing its clients at a high level across the board. #2—Has a track record of placing the type of job seekers you hire. It doesn’t matter if an agency is established if it can’t deliver the type of employees you need. This is where researching the staffing firm is crucial. If the agency hasn’t provided the right candidates in the past, what makes you think it will be able to do so for you in the future? #3—Has a process in place for finding and hiring quality employees. Hiring quality employees is not easy. If it was easy, then every organization in the world would be doing it. No, hiring quality requires a quality process for doing so. The staffing agency you choose must be able to articulate its process. The process should be easy to understand and it should emphasize the value that the agency is providing to you, the employer. #4—Offers a wide array of hiring solutions. The more options, the better. That mantra applies to just about everything, and that includes the world of hiring and employment. A staffing agency should be able to provide temp workers, temp-to-hire workers, and even direct hire workers. More hiring options = more flexibility. #5—Has a clear idea of your business (and hiring) needs. The staffing agency should be able to take its established process and its variety of hiring options and apply them to your organization’s situation. Remember, it’s all about value. The agency needs to be able to provide you with the value that you’re seeking. To accomplish that, the firm will need a thorough understanding of your specific needs. #6—Takes care of the employment details. This is certainly not a detail to overlook. In addition to handling payroll taxes, unemployment insurance, and worker’s compensation, the staffing agency should provide a pre-screening process. Among the items included in that process: Background check Drug screening Reference check Job-related skills testing In addition, the agency should also provide after-hire support if any issues arise with an employee. Time Staffing could be the staffing agency YOU need to meet your hiring needs. Comments are closed.
